Bravo, bravo, bravo. This was marvelous. Esther is a fascinating three dimensional character. Winchester is well written and helps me understand Colby better. Having grown up in a large city [Los Angeles] and doing most of our shopping in a small town, I appreciate the realness of Winchester. I can understand why most of the kids leave.

:-) I'm glad you like Esther. She's not that easy to write. According to some online stuff the real town of Winchester, Idaho only has 300 people so I can understand why young people would run screaming into the night.

I haven't commented on any of this so far, but I've loved it. Fantastic story from start to finish.

Well thank you for at least popping by for a second. :)

So I'll thrown in a comment from the lurkers.

I randomly (or not so randomly) found you through an Epic Recs community that had recced Whitman. I read it and loved it, and so went to read everything else that you had in Numb3rs. I think Whitman is my favorite and I am eagerly awaiting the next part. I'm attempting t be patiet; it is a battle. I love Vignettes for the happy ending, low drama and angst (which I usually love but need a break every once in awhile).

Now about the story. I should stop being surprised when your OC's grab my attention and demand I love them. I fell in love with Andrew from the beginning. I love the interaction between him and Esther. It is so engaging and realistic. I am hoping to see more of him at a later date. The relationship between Colby and his family just makes me smile. I love that they all have varied and realistic reactions from them. My dad grew up in a small town and when we go back, we get a lot of different reactions from the family that still lives there. (Actually we were just visiting and returned today, so finding this up today made me smile.) The growth in Charlie and Colby's relationship throughout Vignettes is very nice to see and well portrayed. You do a very good job of showing that growth and change, which can be very easily missed by many writers.

Thanks for the smile this provided after a tough weekend. I look forward to seeing more from you. I'm off to go read the Silk Pillow drabbles now.

WooHoo! Lurker Comment! Looooong Lurker Comment.
Thank you for dropping by. I am working on Whitman but it's turning Russian on me (I think I'm looking at 400K by the end)

I'm glad Andy worked. He wasn't meant to be even slightly central to the story when I first outlined it so he really ended up growing pretty organically as I wrote.

My Dad's also a small town kid and visiting the relatives can be a handful.

Thank you again for reading and I hope you like Silk Pillow. Would love to hear your thoughts on those as well.

Sniff... It's over... Now you're going to write about Andrew's visit? pseaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase? *insert puppy looks*

I hadn't thought about doing that but I will now.

It's been a while since I thought to check this 'verse out as I didn't realize you were still writing in it. Wow, I am so glad I did. I loved this story. You make me care about Colby's family, want to see more of them (and I don't usually like OC's).

Thank you for sharing.

I'm always writing in all my 'verses. None are abandoned. This one just got put aside for a while but I hope I made it up to everyone with this story. I'm glad you enjoyed it. (especially the OC's) and thank you for reading.

This is wonderful as always. I was delighted to find you have written more in this series. It's always been a favorite.
Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for reading. It's been a while since I wrote a vignette, I hope I made up for it with length.

That was a great series. Not sure how I managed to miss it first time around, but I've very much enjoyed my catch up session.

I'm glad you found it and gave it a read. You were one of the people who read and commented on all of the original Vignettes so it's always good to get feedback from you. :)

I've just been plowing through all your stories, so haven't taken the time to comment -- too much in a hurry LOL.

Love them all (so far), having read all of the Whitman 'verse to date, and now Vignettes. Looking forward to more :)

I'll def be friending so I can see when any new stories are posted.

:-) Glad you're liking them. The next big piece coming will be a Charlie/David novella until then I'm glad you're enjoying my back catalog.

You said to comment, so...
Hey there Ms. lady gray

I have only been reading your Vignette stories for the past two days, and they're awesome! I really enjoy them, especially since they *sniffle* cancelled Numb3rs without a proper ending. But c'est la vie or something...whatever -_-

Anyway! Just wanted you to know that you write fantastically (is that a word?), and I can't wait to check out your other stories.

Have a lovely February ^_^

Re: You said to comment, so...
Thank you and welcome.
I'm glad you've enjoyed Vignettes and hope you enjoy the rest of my work. My other three large pieces are the Silk Pillow 'verse, Whitman 'verse and I just finished a long story called Who We Are. It's filed under stand alone stories.
Welcome again and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on other works.

just read this again for like the third time and was wondering if you were going to do a story about andrew's trip to california. also was wondering, not to be nagging or rude or anything, if any of the black haven't been written yet stories will be debuted any time soon.
ladygray99ladygray99 on March 16th, 2011 06:32 am (UTC)
Right now there's no plans for the California trip and as for the rest there's nothing currently being written but right now every possible bunny is up for grabs so I'll see what pushes to the front.

Crying at work
Thank you. I loved it.
You're incredibly talented. It was so rich I could smell the cow dung.

You painted such a rich picture. :)

Re: Crying at work
Thank you. I'm not sure if cow is the best smell but I'm really glad you liked it.

Okay, I'm going to finish reading the last two stories available in this arc in a minute (and I'd just like to say I'd LOVE to see the other titles you've listed on the masterlist but haven't written yet at some point!), but I had to tell you how much I loved this. And I love this universe -- Esther is the most amazing character. Being a bit of a language nut myself, I am ecstatic at a character whose genius is in languages, only my favorite language is music. And Russian -- which is related because I love Russian because of the music I get to sing in Russian. So Esther swearing in Russian tickled me pink! But I digress. Your Colby and Charlie are wonderful, I love the way you fleshed out the family with Alan's backstory and Ian's involvement in Esther's life (that's actually my favorite thing after Esther's genius in languages), and I just can't believe there are only 2 more sections before I have to say goodbye to this universe. (At least until you write more? Please?) When I first watched Numb3rs, I wasn't really aware of fanfic outside of the fandom that got me hooked, and Numb3rs always felt like such a well-written and self-contained story, so I didn't feel the need to find out "what would happen if". But I recently finished re-watching the series, and all of a sudden I wondered what might be out there and low and behold this was the second thing (right after Conference Wives, cause initially I'd been looking for Ian/Charlie) that I found. And I was a bit leery of Colby/Charlie at first because I couldn't picture it from what I'd seen of them on the show, but then I started reading anyway because it had come highly recommended and I was curious, and I'm so glad I did. This is a beautiful portrayal of the gang as they progress through life, and the backstory you've filled in in the process may just become my head canon, and I'm beyond happy to have read it. And I plan to forage through the rest of your fic too once I'm done! :)

Do think about posting some of those stories that haven't been written yet? I would really love to see more in this verse. :D
